About

Hi,

My name is Joanna and I’m a mom of a 7-year-old boy who has been searching for a long time for easy ways to improve my family nutrition without having to be stuck in the kitchen for hours, without having to nag anybody to eat the healthy foods that I prepare, and without having to buy all these expensive supplements that promise huge health benefits, but may be in fact detrimental to our health.

Let me tell you a little bit about my past. When my son was little he suffered from terrible eczema due to milk allergies. He also has been hospitalized when he was just 4 weeks old and spent entire week on full spectrum antibiotic drip in confined to a hospital bed.

I suffered similar problems. I was getting sick at least 4-5 times per year, and my colds and flues seemed to last forever – many weeks at a time. I struggled with my weight and experienced various skin problems, including a mysterious (at least to me!) condition called acute urticaria. I started to experience nasty seasonal allergies, even though I have never been allergic before to anything in my life. I suffered terribly with my eyes itchy, throat blocked with mucus, and generally feeling awful for 4-5 weeks in spring and in the fall – two of my favorite times of the year. Diabetes has been in my family for generations: my grandmother was a diabetic, my father is diabetic, and during pregnancy I almost developed pre-natal diabetes myself. As if that was not enough, I learned I have hepatitis C, that I most likely acquired during appendicitis operation some 40 years ago, before there was even any knowledge that this virus existed.

I saw many doctors, but they were not providing me the answers I needed to get well, just various pills and steroid oitments for my son’s eczema, that were just masking the symptoms of potentially serious underlying problems.

During my conversations, when I was trying to get to the bottom of these issues, I was not getting any answers. What the doctors were basically telling me is that we don’t know why most diseases happen and there is not much that we can do to prevent them.

For a long time I also thought that way. I knew that “healthy living” is important, but I was not sure what that really meant – whatever solution I got, there seemed to be a contradicting advice that seemed to say just the opposite. I was trying to live and eat healthy, but I was really confused by everything that I was reading and hearing. I believed that disease can strike anyone, any time out of the blue, and we have no control over our health whatsoever – I also had a feeling that there must be a better way. That it’s impossible that nature, by creating us, would set us up for such terrible failure – all these diseases and suffering. This just didn’t seem right!

But finally I found eye-opening books and advice that really spoke to me and everything started to make sense. I got rid of various supplements and pills that I was trying and decided to get back to the basics.

I strongly believe that nature has set us up for success, and that means vibrant health, energy, optimum weight and freedom from chronic disease – if we only take charge of our health and follow the nature’s way.

Health is our birthright and the most important thing that we have. Without it, we cannot be alive (at least not for all), we cannot take care of our loved ones, we cannot work and we cannot enjoy life to the fullest!

You can really get confused with all the the information that is out there, and especially since so much of it is contradictory. You can look up any scientific study and in almost every case you will find the complete opposite for it. What most people don’t realize is that scientific studies are often swayed by those who fund them. What you read in the papers and online, is often inaccurate or only tells a part of the story. Big money is being spent on media campaigns and public relations, and much of what you read is nothing more than clever marketing disguised as scientific health advice.

And who has the time to read it all and get to the bottom of it to find out the truth?

Certainly, most people don’t have time to do it. And new parents are especially busy, and yet they need this information the most.

The truth is achieving optimum health doesn’t have to be hard or complicated.

That’s why I decided to share the information that I found and the strategies that I use every day – that only take about 10-15 minutes at most – to ensure that my family stays healthy.

The important part is to understand that – ultimately – YOU are the one who is responsible for your own well being, and the well being of your children, and that you shouldn’t hand over the responsibility for your health to anyone else, regardless of their title and scientific credentials.

And we must teach our children to do the same!

I hope the information on this website will help your family – and your kids – achieve super-immunity with these SUPER-EASY, SUPER_FUN, SUPER-FOOD green smoothie recipes!

I want everyone to start with drinking green smoothies and eating blended salads – instead of energy drinks, sodas, and eating all the junk food that seems to be everywhere we turn – as this simple habit will certainly help you feel better and look younger. And it’s really SIMPLE and EASY to implement.

I would also like to hear your stories, if you would like to share them with me.

To your health,

Joanna

The GMO Battle is Heating Up

I just recently attended the Food Revolution Summit. It was a great event, with great speakers and informative presentations, including Jeffrey Smith who is the leading spokesperson on the dangers of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Right now the GMO battle is heating up, big time. It’s time to educate yourself and start taking action. Now you can listen to Jeffrey Smith’s Presentation at the Food Revolution Summit on the truth about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). He explains the health and environmental dangers of...

Toxic Chemicals and Disease: Are Our Children Canaries in a Coal Mine?

Did you know that of 60,000 existing chemicals only about 200 were ever tested for safety directly by the EPA? The Toxic Substances Control Act (ToSCA) of 1976 mandated the EPA to protect the public from "unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment" by regulating the manufacture and sale of chemicals. One might think that Environmental Protection Agency exists to protect the public from dangerous and potentially carcinogenic substances, but thousands of chemicals were never tested by the EPA because they were not considered an "unreasonable risk."

Say NO To GMOs! Now Is The Time To Demand GMO Labelling!

Genetically modified foods are everywhere, causing health and environmental problems without us even knowing it, as formal safety testing or food labeling is not required for these organisms. In Europe Monsanto’s practices have been banned. I have read about people with severe allergic reactions who go to Europe, where they do not indulge GMO food, and they have no problems. I’ve also heard about Europeans who do well eating in their country, who come here and suffer with terrible gastric disturbances eating our food, until they return home. If you think you are safe, think again.

Gazpacho: Delicious and Easy Chilled Soup Recipe

A chilled variation of a basic tomato soup originating in Spain, gazpacho is a refreshing soup that's perfect for hot weather-months. Low glycemic load, dairy-free, gluten free recipe. You don't even need a blender to prepare it. Frequently described as a "liquid salad," gazpacho descends from ancient Roman concoction based on a combination of stale bread, garlic, olive oil, salt, and vinegar. Some versions feature chopped veggies, some feature minced, and some are pureed completely.

5 Minute Super-Easy Fresh Tomato Basil Soup Recipe

I love tomato soup, but not the variety that you find canned in stores that is loaded with sodium, and other not-so-desirable ingredients. It's easy to make your own tomato soup from fresh ingredients or from diced tomatoes that you can buy canned. However, since this is a site for smoothie and blending fanatics (;-)), why not live a little and experiment with a raw - and living - version of tomato soup. This recipe for a cold tomato basil soup is similar to a gazpacho soup, but with little extra flavoring of garden-fresh basil (or other fresh herbs). It is low-fat, low-calorie, GMO-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan.

Omni Blender Review: Is It The Blender For YOU?

Omni Blender Review: Is It The Blender For YOU?

In order to prepare delicious-tasting green smoothies and other raw dishes with ease, you need to have a good quality smoothie blender at your disposal. By that I mean a powerful, heavy-duty blender that can withstand years of daily use (and abuse):-).

Most blenders that you can buy online and in department stores are mediocre and will only partially blend green smoothies. They don't fully blend tough greens, their containers are usually very small, and they don't last long. What you need is a powerful blender, with a plunger and a giant container, that can make you not only green smoothies, but also raw ice-cream, raw soups, dressings, and more.

The problem is that many of these heavy-duty blenders are expensive. Blendtec and Vitamix are both excellent blenders, but we are talking at least $400 for a basic model. Many people want a powerful blender, but are not ready to shell out the high price of these brands. So I'm always on the lookout for blenders that are powerful, meet the high quality standards, and don't break the bank. Recently I discovered another blender that seemed to meet ALL of our criteria, and also a lot cheaper. It's called the Omni Blender.

Glycemic Index Versus Glycemic Load: Can Green Smoothies Cause High Blood Sugar Levels?

Glycemic Index Versus Glycemic Load: Can Green Smoothies Cause High Blood Sugar Levels?

One of the questions I most often get is "Are green smoothies good for diabetics?" The main concern is, of course, the high fruit content of the smoothie - and the resulting sweetness of the drink causing blood sugar problems. This is an important topic, so I'm going to address it in a series of posts, providing you with the information that I have on this topic, as well as giving you some low-fruit or no-fruit recipes. But first, I want to talk about two important concepts for people with blood sugar problems, the glycemic index of foodsversus glycemic load. There is a widespread misconception that all foods that have a high glycemic index should be eliminated from the diet because of their ability to cause a rapid spike in blood glucose levels.

These issues are pressing, and yet it seems that there is never enough money to fix any of them. So, if you had a trillion dollars, what would YOU spend it on?

Green Power Soups and Salads: Savory & Crunchy Alternative to Green Smoothies

Green smoothies are great, but they are sweet-tasting, and sometimes we want a more savory flavor. They are also usually very smooth - like baby food - which is important if you add hard-to-chew greens, such as kale or collard greens. However, for variety, you will want to add some crunchiness to your meals.
