If you have never heard about green smoothies, I’m really excited to introduce you to them.
Green smoothies are simply fruit smoothies with a twist – some leafy greens added to the usual combination of fruits and liquid.
They take just a few minutes to prepare, are super healthy and nutritious, and taste delicious – not a common combination by any means!
Green smoothies are very easy to prepare. If you already know how to make a fruit smoothie and have a blender in your kitchen, you will have no problem whatsoever with preparing green smoothie recipes that you’ll find on this website.

Most of us know that we should be eating more fresh fruits, vegetables and leafy greens. The problem is that 90% of people don’t eat even the minimum the recommended daily servings of fruit and vegetables – which are pathetically low, by the way. In a study done by the U. S. Department of Agriculture of 50,000 individuals, not even one individual was getting the recommended daily allowance of the 10 essential vitamins. And in many cases the allowance is really insufficient for optimum health.
Green smoothies will make your life so much easier in this respect! Especially if you have picky eaters in your home, you’ll appreciate how easy it is to serve a few of portions of leafy greens, fruits and veggies (if you make green veggie smoothies), in just one big jug of this deliciously sweet blended sensation.
What Are Green Smoothies & Green Smoothie Recipes
If you already know some yummy fruit smoothie recipes, for example a banana smoothie recipe or strawberry smoothie recipe, you can start with that by simply tossing some leafy greens into the mixture.
Start with mild tasting greens, such as spinach and add just a little in the beginning. Later on, don’t be afraid to experiment with various fruit and green combinations – I have never made a smoothie I didn’t like – except maybe the ones with lettuce or Swiss chard – I’m not really crazy about those greens in my smoothies. Worse comes to worse – if your smoothie tastes too “green” – you may need to add some more sweet fruits or some other sweetener, such as honey or agave nectar.

Blenders for Smoothies
If you already have a blender at home, great! Any blender will do if you want to start making smoothies right away.
However, if want to prepare deliciously smooth drinks, as well as other raw recipes, such as raw ice-cream, raw soups, dressings, and more; you’ll need a really powerful blender for smoothies and other raw dishes. By that I mean a powerful, heavy-duty blender that can withstand years of daily abuse.
Most blenders found at the store will only partially blend green smoothies. They don’t fully blend tough greens, such as kale or celery, and their containers are also very small. What you need is a powerful blender, with a plunger and a giant container. Most people assume that if something tastes delicious it has to be bad for you. This is often true, because most conventional desserts are loaded with sugar, fat, artificial flavors and coloring. Not so with green smoothies! You can drink as many of them as you like and never feel bad or guilty about it!
